[Technical Service Team] First Visit to Vietnam

The Technical Service Team of the Asian Productivity Organization's Center of Excellence on Smart Manufacturing (COE on SM) made its first trip to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi of Vietnam in July 2019. While present, the team met with local Vietnamese companies and government agencies to discuss cooperation plans for smart manufacturing technology, equipment, and service output; the goal was to increase business opportunities and economic and technological cooperation opportunities.

The result of this visit was remarkable. At the 2019 Taiwan-Vietnam Industrial Collaboration Forum hosted by Taiwan’s MOEA Industrial Development Bureau in Ho Chi Minh City, Taiwanese’s Perfect Machine Co., Ltd. and Vietnam’s NGUYEN THANG PHAT CO., LTD signed a joint exhibition and sales agency MOU. The two parties hope to expand their overseas business opportunities by diffusing their early diligence in the area.

Also, Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, Deputy Director General of Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Vietnam, proposed that Vietnam and Taiwan establish a mutual training program that will assist Vietnamese enterprises in smart manufacturing by sending students to Taiwan. These students will replicate learned techniques in Vietnam, and further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Taiwan and Vietnam. Deputy Director General further invited the team to visit Vietnam again in September.
